And do you have any other specialists on-site?

Ceri:

As we’re linked to the main Cardiff Bay Hospital, we have access to a lot of specialities and consultants. We have a plethora of specialities including orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, neurology, mental health services, and more.

If needed, our GPs can easily refer you for a follow-up appointment with a specialist, a blood test, or a scan. Obviously, this comes at an extra charge and our doctors will always explain this to you and leave it up to you how, or if you want to proceed.

Referrals & GP services

Health Prem:

Can you also refer patients to other health professionals such as nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians etc?

Ceri:

In addition to GP services, we offer a range of health assessments including a Well Woman Check, a Lifestyle Health Assessment, and our most in-depth assessment called a 360+.

For other specialities and services, we can refer to the main hospital. Cardiff Bay provides outpatient treatment, and if you need a hospital stay, we can refer you to our excellent Vale Hospital, just 12 miles away.

Appointments & waiting times

Health Prem:

So, in addition to face-to-face consultations, do you offer telephone or online appointments?

Ceri:

Depending on your diagnosis and treatment and what you agree with your doctor, we may offer a follow-up appointment by telephone. We find that the majority of patients prefer face-to-face appointments.

Health Prem:

What about the average waiting time for an appointment? Can you be seen the same day or the next day?

Ceri:

It depends on availability and when you call. If you call at 4 o'clock on a Friday, the chances are you’ll need to wait until the following Tuesday, but if you call on a Tuesday morning, you’ll likely be seen the same day.
